Portland Art Museum Day Trip
The Portland Art Museum has an exhibit titled The Shape of Speed, Streamlined Automobiles and Motorcycles, 1930–1942 running from JUN 16 – SEP 16, 2018. More info here:
Club members Lou Kruse and Alex Countouriotis invite you to join them on Saturday, July 7 to go to the museum and see the exhibit. The day starts with an 8:45 drivers meeting at the West Olympia Safeway. Lou will lead the first (boring) leg of the drive from the West Olympia to Kelso but you will be able to see the world's largest egg as you go through Winlock!! At the Kelso Safeway, you will meet up with Alex who will lead the rest of the way to the museum. He will lead you along as many backroads as possible from Kelso to Portland. The route will cross into Oregon via the Lewis and Clark Bridge. We will follow Hwy 30 for about 35 miles. We will make a gas stop in Scappoose. The road will get twisty for a while on Cornelius Pass Road. Lunch will be at McMenamin's Rock Creek Tavern. Final leg will be via NW Germantown Road and Skyline Blvd.
Street parking near the museum will suck, so when we get within a few blocks of the museum, you’ll be on your own to find a spot. We will regroup at the main museum ticket counter.
As this will be the first weekend of the month, admission to the museum will be free for Bank of America customers through their Museums on Us program. More info here:
Non-Bank of America customers will need to pay full admission price.
After the museum, some may want to hang around in Portland and maybe even spend the night. Alex will be happy to point out some cool places to eat drink and be merry for those that wish to stay. You will be on your own for the return drive.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Alex at the contact information shown in his member profile.
