Mount Rainier Drive 2020
Lou Kruse will be leading the run this year.
Circumnavigating Mt. Rainier is a classic sports car drive. Come out and join the club on this run--it's the only drive that's been done every single year since the club was formed in 2002.
The day will start at the Safeway store on Hwy 410 in Enumclaw. There are several nearby gas stations, and you can get your caffeine fix at the coffee stand in the store.
We'll enter the park at the White River entrance, where we'll buy passes. Then we'll head up to Sunrise on the best twisty road in the park and check out the views.
Then down the road in reverse and back onto Hwy 410 to Tipsoo Lake for a photo op of the cars with the mountain in the background, if space allows.
We'll go in the Stevens Canyon entrance, and will have our picnic lunch at the Box Canyon picnic area before heading on to the Paradise area and out of the park through the Longmire entrance.
Each car will need a National Park pass, available at the entrance.
If you want to join Club Miata Northwest for a high-mountain drive and enjoy some of the best twisty roads in the state, Come join us!
Don't forget to bring water, snacks, and lunch.
If you have a FRS handheld radio, bring that too.
*** UPDATE ***
Lou did the pre-drive for Mt Rainier. There were two sections of road work. Spoke toPark ranger. There are no additional Covid restrictions. Please pack your patience. This summer the park is experiencing unusually high volume of car traffic. Parking is a premium unless we are lucky. May not be able to get a group photo at sunrise this year.
