Weekend at Ocean Shores This will be a weekend drive to Ocean Shores, staying at the Shilo inn in Ocean Shores that will begin on Friday and run through Sunday. Mount Hood Miata club asked permission to join us and I thought this was a great idea. This will be a great way to get to know your fellow Miata enthusiasts from the Mt. Hood club. We will begin the drive at the West Olympia Safeway (food, coffee and gas available here). We will have a short drivers meeting at 8:45, then head out at 9:00 a.m. and head south to Highway 12 for a rest stop, then on through the town of Adna, then down Highway 6 to Raymond making a rest stop at the Willapa Hills trailhead in Pe Ell We will take a lunch break in Raymond, I have not found a restaurant that is capable of handling a larger group, so we will stop at the Northwest Carriage Museum, head out to get some lunch or explore, then meet back at the Northwest Carriage Museum at the south end of town and continue the drive to Ocean Shores. Saturday will be yours to explore the area, the Razor Clam festival is held on this weekend that has numerous events or we can figure out a short drive if any would like to explore further. I know the area well, so it will be easy to arrange one. On Sunday I will lead a drive back towards home that will end in the Gig Harbor area for any who would like to join. The drive will retrace most of the route we took last year to get to Ocean Shores. We may be stopping at a couple of state parks, so you may want to have a discover pass, some times the ranger will check for one, sometimes not. We should be able to make a 15 minute rest stop without one, so it will be up to you if you want to get one. There are numerous restaurants available in Ocean Shores for dinner, there is also a restaurant at the hotel. Depending on the size of our group, we may be able to dine together or dine as you wish. Shilo Inn is setting aside a block of rooms for us at $109.00 a night Our rooms at this rate will be on floors one and two this year, however, if you would like a room on the 3rd or 4th floor you can have one for an additional $10.00. They can guarantee these rooms and rate for us until March 2nd. The folks at the Shilo have informed me that they are planning to block off an area of the parking lot so that we can all park together. If you are considering joining us for this drive I would recommend that you make a hotel reservation prior to the 23rd of February! If for any reason you can not make the drive, you may cancel the reservation at no charge if done at least 24 hours prior to March 16th You can still make a reservation after the 23th of February but it may not be at the group rate or in the same area of the hotel. All rooms at this hotel have a view towards the ocean The number for the hotel is (360) 289-4600 Be sure to call the hotel when making a reservation and not the Shilo reservation line. When calling for a reservation be sure to tell them it is for Club Miata Northwest to receive our rate. The hotel address is Shilo Inn 707 Ocean Shores Blvd. Ocean Shores, Wa.
